[source] it is the branches and leaves of Tsuga brevifolia or Tsuga Tsuga. For the plant morphology, please refer to the article "Podocarpus arvensis".

[medicinal materials] the dry branches and leaves of Tsuga brevifolia are about 2-5 mm thick, light yellowish brown in appearance, rough and densely covered with triangular leaf pillows. Leaves alternate, spirally arranged, very dense, narrowly lanceolate, 5-7 cm long, apex short pointed or obtuse, grayish green to dark brown above, yellowish green to light brown below. The air is weak and the taste is light. The dry branches and leaves of Metasequoia glyptostroboides are relatively large, 7-13 cm long and sparsely arranged. The others are the same as those of Tsuga brevifolia. It is better to have green color, less stem and no old stem.
It is mainly produced in Guangdong.
[chemical constituents] the leaves of Tsuga brevifolia contain ponesterone a, and the bark contains tannin, resin and volatile oil.
The leaves of Metasequoia glyptostroboides contain volatile oil, including α - pinene, β - pinene, camphene, pichenylene and podocarpine. It also contains insect metamorphosis hormones ecdysterone, ponosterone A and Podocarpus sterone a, B, C, D, and biflavonoids: Platycladus orientalis biflavonoids, neocryptomeria fortunei biflavonoids, Jinsong biflavonoids, Zhubai biflavonoids a, Zhubai biflavonoids B, etc. The heartwood contains podocarpic acid, double taotasol, taotasol and half luohansongic acid.
