Perennial evergreen herbs. The rhizome is inclined, thick and short, and the fibrous roots are slender and densely covered with white Tricholoma. Leaves tufted; lanceolate or banded, 10-30 cm long, 2.5-7.5 cm wide, apex pointed, base gradually narrowed and nearly petiolate, entire, leathery and smooth, dark green on leaf surface, light green below, with parallel veins, midrib raised on leaf back. The flowers are mostly in oval spikes, about 3 cm long; the stem is 7.5-20 cm long; the perianth is light green, with 6 lobes, and the lower part is more disc-shaped; the stamen is 6, sessile, attached to the perianth tube; the anther is oblong, introverted, and longitudinally split; the ovary is spherical, the style is very short, and the stigma is 3-lobed, spreading out. The berry is globose, fleshy, orange red or yellow when hot, containing 1 seed. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from August to October.

Cultivated in garden, or wild in wet forest, valley. It is distributed in Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang and other places.

[clinical application] ① treatment of diphtheria

Take 40 grams of fresh evergreen rhizome, add 100 ml vinegar, soak for 48 hours to 10 days, remove residue and filter, then add cold boiled water to 20 ml to make 20% soaking solution. Daily dosage: 1 ml under 1 year old, 2 ml between 1 and 2 years old, 3 ml between 3 and 4 years old, 4 ml between 5 and 6 years old, 5 ml between 7 and 9 years old, 6 ml between 10 and 12 years old, 7.5 ml between 13 and 15 years old, and 10-15 ml above 16 years old. The first dose doubled. 40 cases were treated, 36 cases were cured and 4 cases died. The average temperature returned to normal in 3 days, the sore throat disappeared in 4 days, and the bacterial culture turned negative in 5 days. According to the observation of 552 cases (433 of them were treated with kenmycin), the cure rate was 93.2%. The curative effect was poor and the mortality rate was high in very severe cases. In most of the cured cases, the general symptoms disappeared within 5-6 days after treatment, and the pseudomembrane completely disappeared within 3-6 days. The average negative conversion time of bacterial culture was 3.23 days. During the treatment, some cases were randomly selected and compared with the serum treatment group. The results showed that the curative effects of the two groups were similar. It is believed that oral administration or nasal drip of evergreen extract has a certain preventive effect on diphtheria; evergreen extract also has curative effect on diphtheria complicated with myocarditis and laryngeal obstruction.

② Treatment of mumps

Take 20-30g fresh evergreen root, chop and mash, apply to the affected area. Change dressing once in the morning and once in the evening. According to the observation of 30 cases, most of them were cured after 5-6 times of dressing change.

③ Treatment of acute bacillary dysentery

The first dose was 5 ml, then 3-4 ml each time, 3-4 times a day, 5-7 days as a course of treatment. Clinical observation of 15 cases and 10 cases, the former 80% of the cure rate, the latter all cured. In most cases, fever subsided in 1-2 days, stool frequency returned to normal in 1-3 days, pus blood disappeared in 1-5 days, and stool culture turned negative in 1-5 days. During the medication, some patients complained of dizziness; 3 patients' heartbeat and pulse became slow, but there was no uneven rhythm; 4 patients had severe abdominal paroxysmal pain, lasting for 3-6 days. All the above reactions disappeared after drug withdrawal.

④ Treatment of heart failure

One speed administration: 1-1.5 liang of fresh evergreen rhizome or leaf were decocted twice to obtain 20 ml of decoction respectively, and then retention enema was made in the morning and evening. Second slow feeding method: take 0.6-1.2 Liang, add 150 ml of water for the first decocting, and decoct 60 ml; add 120 ml of water for the second decocting, and decoct 40 ml. Mix the two decoctions, 30 ml each time, 3 times a day. Maintenance dose should be used immediately after heart failure control to prevent poisoning. In 43 cases, 19 cases of heart failure were controlled, 10 cases were markedly effective, 9 cases were improved, 3 cases were ineffective and 2 cases died. The curative effect of pulmonary heart disease combined with total heart failure is better. Vomiting was easy to occur during oral administration, and no side effects were found in enema patients. In addition, 15 cases of heart failure caused by paroxysmal tachycardia, rheumatic heart disease and syphilitic heart disease were treated with the extract of whole herb of evergreen youth, 1 gram (including 30 grams of fresh crude drug) every time, 2-3 times a day. After taking the extract, the symptoms of palpitation, shortness of breath, chest tightness, chest pain, cyanosis and edema were improved or disappeared in varying degrees. There was no toxic reaction.

⑤ Treatment of arrhythmia

2-4 ml (0.5 g crude drug per ml) of evergreen root injection was diluted into 250-500 ml of 25% glucose, and the infusion rate was controlled at 30-40 drops per minute. Intramuscular injection is also feasible. 8 cases of supraventricular paroxysmal tachycardia were treated, 7 cases turned to sinus rhythm after drug infusion; 2 cases of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, ventricular rate decreased rapidly after drug administration; 1 case of atrial flutter, atrial fibrillation soon after drug administration, ventricular rate decreased to 64 beats / min after drug administration, but the above 3 cases (atrial fibrillation and flutter) failed to return to normal during the course of drug administration. In addition, 6 cases of supraventricular paroxysmal tachycardia, ventricular or atrial premature beat were treated by oral administration of the decoction of evergreen root. 4 cases turned to sinus rhythm or disappeared premature beat after medication, 1 case decreased premature beat, and 1 case failed.
