[plant morphology] Caragana guijianer, also known as Caragana coronata.
Shrub, 1-3 m high. Erect or prostrate, base branched; bark green gray, dark gray or black gray. The branches and leaves are dense, and many needles are formed because the leaf axis does not fall off. When young, they are covered with long white hairs. Pinnate compound leaves, 4-6 pairs of leaflets, linear oblong, 7-24 mm long, 1.5-7 mm wide, apex rounded or pointed, needle pointed, base rounded, densely villous, green, entire; stipules apex bristly, not hardened into needles, membranous, flowers solitary in leaf axils; bracts 1, linear; calyx campanulate, 14-17 mm long, villous, calyx teeth lanceolate Corolla white to rose, light red, flag petal broad obovate, narrow to base, claw, wing petal upper end slightly wide or equal wide and almost linear, petal apex obliquely truncated and slightly concave, base with dentate ear; ovary with long hair. Pods tubular, ca. 3. 5 cm long, pilose, long pointed. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from August to September.
It grows in the shrub on the hillside. It is distributed in Liaoning, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Sichuan and Northwest China.

[chemical constituents] it contains alkaloids, glycosides, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, volatile oils and sugars. The twigs contain myricetin, quercetin, isorhamnetin, quercetin-3 - α - l-rhamnofuranoside, isorhamnetin-3 - α - l-rhamnofuranoside, quercetin-3 - β - D-galactopyranoside, isorhamnetin-3 - β - D-galactopyranoside, quercetin-3 - β - d-xylopyranoside and isorhamnetin-3 - α - l-arabinoside.
