Sweet tea

[synonym] honey vanilla (the book of Materia Medica) and sweet tea (the book of Chinese medicinal plants).
[source] it is the tender leaves of Hydrangea latifolia or Hydrangea umbellifera. For plant morphology, please refer to "tuchangshan".
[collection] collect the tender leaves from April to may, rub them with hands to remove the green juice, and dry them in the sun. The leaves without rubbing to remove juice are hard, which are called "raw leaves", not up to specification.
[herbal medicine] the dry leaves are usually twisted irregularly, strip-shaped or round, green brown or green black, sometimes with petioles. It's loose and fragile, mildewy and dry. It tastes sweet.
It is mainly produced in Zhejiang. It is also produced in Anhui.
[pharmacological action] the water extract or total alkaloids from the leaves of Hydrangea (sweet tea, but its variety has not been identified) have very significant antimalarial effect on chicken malaria. The antimalarial potency of the total alkaloids is 10 times that of quinine. There are three kinds of alkaloids, which are the same as those of changshanine a, B and C. The alkaloids are easy to cause vomiting and the antimalarial chemotherapy index is not high.
