[plant morphology] Kojima japonica

Perennial herbs, 8-25 cm in height. Stems slender, numerous, tufted, white woolly. The basal leaves are rosette shaped, linear oblanceolate, 2.5-10 cm long and 4-7 mm wide, with blunt apex and pointed tip. The basal part is narrow and thin, entire, and does not fall after anthesis. The upper part is green or slightly white woolly, and the lower part is white tomentose. The stem leaves are gradually short, linear, 2-2.5 cm long and 2-4 mm wide. Inflorescence numerous, clustered at the top; bracts 3-row, dark brown, outer bracts elliptic, inner bracts long and narrow elliptic; all tubular flowers, brown red, about 3.5 mm long; outer row, female, corolla narrow as line; central row, bisexual flowers, corolla slender, apex 5-lobed; stamen 5, anther base sagittate; pistil 1, stigma 2-lobed. Achene elliptic, ca. 1 mm, punctate; corolla 1-row, slender, scabrous. The flowering period is from April to May.

Born in wasteland, roadside, field edge, forest edge. It is distributed in East China and southwest China.
