Herbs perennial, ca. 80 cm tall. The rhizome is stout. Stem cylindrical, purple. Leaves alternate; ovate or elliptic, 8-15 cm long, 3-7 cm wide, entire or occasionally irregularly shallowly serrated. Flowers solitary in leaf axils, greenish white, slightly pendulous; calyx hemispherical, 5-lobed; corolla narrowly campanulate, 5-lobed, lobes triangular; stamens 5; ovary conical, style cylindrical, capsule globose, enclosed by inflated persistent calyx.
Born in the mountain stream. It is distributed in Hubei, Sichuan and Yunnan.
