Deciduous or semievergreen low shrubs, ca. 50 cm tall, branches spreading horizontally to both sides, pubescent. The leaves are alternate, suborbicular to broadly elliptic, 10-12 mm long and 4-9 mm wide, with a pointed tip at the apex and a round or pointed base. The upper part is dark green, and the lower part is covered with hirsute hairs on the veins and petioles. The petioles are 1-2 mm long. Some leaves turn red or orange red in late autumn. Flowers 1-2, pink, at the top of spur like short lateral branches, nearly sessile; calyx 5-lobed, slightly hairy; petals 5; stamens 20.
