The heart pressure of the cat in situ increased, the cardiac contractility increased, and the minute output of the heart (cardiopulmonary apparatus) of the cat in failure increased. The extract B (extracted with chloroform and ethanol) also has the general cardiotonic effect in the heart of eutopic cats. The effects of roxithin and roxithin from the root bark of Periploca hellenica were rapid, short lasting and weak accumulating.

④ Biological activity
The cat unit of Periploca preparation is 0.176 G. 6 mg / kg. One gram of daucosteroside contains 5780 cat units, with low accumulation and shorter action time than that of daucosteroside G.
[toxicity] the root bark of Periploca sepium (beiwujiakang) was used to replace the bark of Acanthopanax spp. (Acanthopanax family) or the root bark of Acanthopanax spp. It is necessary to be careful when making Acanthopanax senticosus wine.
