Trees, 8-15 m high, all glabrous or slightly hairy on branchlets. The leaves are singularly pinnate, 20-25 cm long, 5-7 opposite leaflets, nearly leathery, ovate, broadly elliptic to oblong, 5-10 cm long, 4-3 cm wide, apex acuminate or rounded, base obtuse and rounded. Raceme in upper leaf axils, 15-20 cm long; 2-4 petioles, 5-8 mm long, 2 bracteoles in the middle; flowers numerous, white or pink; calyx campanulate, about 3 mm long; corolla 12-14 mm long, flag petal round, base auricular, abaxial surface covered with silky hairs, dragon bone petal curved, obtuse; stamens 10; ovary subsessile, style curved, bald. The pod is woody, bald, oblong, 4-5 cm long and 1.5-2.5 cm wide, with a short beak at the top; the seed is usually one, kidney shaped. The flowering period is June.
Born near the water where the tide can reach. It is distributed in the south of China.
