Jinniuqi

[source] it is the tuberous root of Aconitum taibaiense (Ranunculaceae).
[plant morphology] Aconitum taibaiense
Perennial herbs, 35-60 cm high. Tuberous root conic, with fibrous root, skin dark brown, often two concurrent. Stem erect, simple, unbranched or branched above middle, purple, slightly arched above. Leaves alternate, with long petiole 1, outline pentagonal, 3.5-4.5 cm long, 5-6 cm wide, 3-5 palmately lobed; lobes obovate rhombic, then pinnately lobed. Raceme terminal; flowers few, leafy involucre; calyx petal, blue purple, upper sepal galeate, base with short claws. Follicles ca. 8 mm long.
Born on hillside grassland. It is distributed in Shaanxi and other places.
[collection] in summer and autumn, root tubers of the same year were collected. Remove the fibrous root, and dry it after processing.
[flavor] pungent, slightly bitter, warm and poisonous.
Functions and indications: pain relief, spasmolysis, anesthesia, detoxification, dispelling wind and dampness, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, treating traumatic injury, strain, rheumatoid arthritis, nameless swelling toxin, carbuncle swelling toxin.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 3-5% in volume (with three times of taoerqi); powder, 1-3% in volume (with cold boiled water). External use: grind and apply with water, wine or vinegar, or mix and apply with powder.
[taboo] avoid smoking, alcohol, syrup and spicy hot diet for two hours after taking medicine. High fever patients and pregnant women should not take it.
