[source] this product is the horn of Bubalus bubalis Linnaeus.
After taking the horn, boil it in water, remove the horn plug and dry it.
[character] the product is a slightly flat and curved cone with different length. The surface is brown black or gray black, with several transverse grooves on one side and dense transverse concave stripes on the other side. The upper part is acuminate, with longitudinal lines, and the base is slightly triangular, hollow. Horny, hard. It is slightly fishy and tasteless.
[identification] the powder is grayish brown. The irregular fragments are grayish white or grayish yellow. In the longitudinal section, there are long and thin fusiform texture, longitudinal cracks and fine gray brown pigment particles; in the transverse section, the fusiform texture is arranged in parallel and curved like a wave crest, with many yellow brown pigment particles. The surface of some fragments is smooth, pigment particles and cracks are small, which is difficult to see.
Wash, slice or file into coarse powder.
[inspection] the total ash content shall not exceed 6.0%. Acid insoluble ash shall not exceed 0.8%.
