Shrub, 1-2m high. Branchlets slender, coarsely short and small. Leaves alternate; thin papery; ovate lanceolate, 5-8 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, apex caudate, long pointed, base rounded, margin serrate, basal veins 3, glabrous above, slightly rough below, usually glabrous, rarely sparse hairy; petiole 6-10 mm long, hairy. Flowers unisexual; cymes axillary, with 2-3 flowers, as long as petiole or slightly short; florets less than 1 cm long, petiole short hairy; apetalous; sepals 5, erect; ovary sessile, 1-locular, stigma 2. Drupe subglobose. Slightly flat, ca. 3 mm, red; nucleus rugose. The flowering period is March. The fruit period is from October to November.
Born on the side of a mountain or ditch. Distributed in Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong, Jiangxi, Taiwan and other places.

[nature and taste] it is flat in nature and slightly acid in sweetness.
Functions and indications: Invigorating the spleen and promoting diuresis, removing blood stasis and promoting regeneration.
[prescription selection] 1. To treat watery diarrhoea: take it with hard shell and simmer water.
② Bonesetting: divide hard shell and root equally, pound down, stir fry and apply to the affected area.
