Deciduous woody vines, 3-10 m long. Young branches pubescent, old branches glabrous, with many lenticels. Leaves alternate; broadly ovate to ovate, 7-12 cm long, 5-10 cm wide, apex cuspidate, base cordate, covered with short bristles above, tomentose below, basal veins 5-7; petiole 4-10 cm long, pilose. Racemes axillary, first leaves open; unisexual; flowers pale yellow. The inflorescence is about 10 cm long, the drupe is bright red, the endocarp is semiovoid, 8-10 mm long, the ventral surface is flat, the dorsal surface is ridged and most verrucous processes. Seeds ca. 5 mm, semiglobose, ventrally invaginated. The flowering period is from March to April. The fruit period is from July to August.
