Shrub, 1-4 m high. Branchlets reddish brown, glabrous. Leaflets 5-7, papery, ovate to ovate, oblong, 3-5 cm long and 1.5-3 cm wide, apex acute or acuminate, base obliquely cuneate or suborbicular, entire, glabrous on both sides. Panicle axillary, flowers small and sparse, miscellaneous; sepals and petals 4-6, imbricate arrangement; ovary sessile, 1-locular, style 30, drupe oblate, yellowish white to yellowish green; seed 1.
It grows in the shrub on the slope. Distributed in Guizhou, Sichuan, Yunnan and other places.
[collection] harvest in summer and autumn.
Warm in nature and hard in taste.
Functions and indications: dispelling wind, removing dampness, detumescence and relieving pain.
[selection] 1. Treatment of rheumatism: one or two roots of iron elephant, soaked in wine, and fumigated with appropriate amount of boiling water.
