Yunnan chicken bone Changshan

[source] it is the branches and leaves of Jigu Changshan, a neriaceae plant.
[plant morphology] Jigu Changshan, also known as Yunnan Yajiao tree, hongla tree, Baihu tree and wild pepper.
Shrubs erect, up to 3 m tall. Stem grayish brown. Leaf blade obovate lanceolate to oblong lanceolate, 5-12 cm long, 1-3 cm wide, base narrowly cuneate, apex long acuminate, entire, upper green, lower gray green, both sides very sparsely pubescent, densely on veins, lateral veins 17-22 pairs. Flowers bisexual, corymbose cymes terminal or subterminal; pollen red, aromatic, calyx short, 5-lobed; corolla high pedunculate, 13 mm long; stamens concealed in corolla throat, not protruding; carpels 2, separated, ovules numerous, style linear. Follicles 2, narrowly linear, 3 cm long, 4 mm in diam., seeds with very short cilia. The flowering period is from March to June. The fruit period is from August to November.
Born on hillside, stream side and wet land. It is distributed in Yunnan.

[medicinal material] the dried branches and leaves are mostly cut into oblique pieces about 1 mm thick. The diameter of the old branch is about 6-8 mm, the outer bark is gray brown, with longitudinal lines, the pores are small and protruding, the pith in the center of the cross section is small and empty, and the wood is white; the young branch is thin, the skin is bluish gray, the pith is hollow, and the outer bark is easy to peel off. Leaves 3-5 whorls, elliptic or ovate oblong to lanceolate, entire, shrunk and curled after drying. No Qi, bitter taste.
