[plant morphology] Trifolium repens
Perennial herbs. Stems prostrate, tendril, glabrous. Leaves with 3 leaflets, alternate; leaflets obovate or obcordate, 1.5-3 cm long, apex rounded or emarginate, base broadly cuneate, margin denticulate; stipules very small, ovate lanceolate, apex pointed; petiole long. Leaves and inflorescences grow from nodes; florets 10-80, integrated into umbelliform globular inflorescence, with long peduncle, 20-30 cm long, higher than leaves; calyx teeth 5, equal length; corolla butterfly shaped, white water red or yellow white; stamens 10, 2 bundles; style filiform, stigma inclined. Pods obovate, rectangular, containing 3-4 seeds. The seeds are small and yellowish brown. The flowering period is June.
Cultivated in Northeast China and Jiangsu, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places.
