Herbs annual, 8-20 cm high, scattered, much branched, glabrous or slightly sparsely hairy, leaves opposite, shortly stipitate; leaf blade ovate, 8-15 mm long, apex obtuse or short pointed, base broadly cuneate or rounded, with very sparse serrate. Flowers axillary, or in the upper raceme; petiole 1-3 cm long; calyx 5-lobed, green or lavender, membranous, 5-veined, lobes short pointed; corolla tube cylindric, about 8 mm long, 2-lipped, upper lip 2-lobed, lower lip 3-lobed, purple stamen 4; ovary superior. Capsule oblong or ovate, enclosed in persistent calyx. The flowering period is July.
Born in the ditch, paddy field. It is distributed in the south of China.
