[source] it is a whole plant with roots and beaked red bracts of Cyperaceae.
[plant morphology] red bract with beak
Perennial herbs. Rhizome short, transverse. Culms clustered, 20-60 cm high, triangular. Leaf blade linear, often as long as culm, ca. 6 mm wide; sheathed. Flowers unisexual, monoecious; inflorescence usually 10-15 cm long; spikelets 3-10, male spikelets terminal, slightly slender, 2-5 cm long; female spikelets lateral, cylindrical, 2.5-5 cm long; scales imbricate arrangement, female flower scales ovate, light brown, with 3 veins, ridge extended into a long pointed head; stamens 3; style 2-lobed; bracts ovate, short beak, brown. Nutlets light brown, triangular. The heading time is summer and autumn.
It grows in the grass on the hillside. It is distributed in East China, South China and southwest China.

[nature and taste] it is mild, pungent and nontoxic.
[function indications] give birth to and relieve symptoms. For women with dystocia, infantile rash does not appear.
[usage and dosage] oral administration: decoction, 2-5 yuan (1-2 Liang fresh).
[prescription selection] it can't cure infantile rash: Sparganium bicolor, sanchunliu bicolor, fish loach string bicolor, Cinnamomum camphora skin bicolor, coriander bicolor. Take it in boiling water, one tablespoon each time, three times a day.
