[plant morphology] Echinacea purpurea
Herbs perennial, 25-40 cm high, usually all hairy. The stem is erect and the base is covered with fibers left by petiole. Basal leaves narrowly oblanceolate, 7-18 cm long, base gradually narrowed into petiole, apex acute, margin with very rare teeth; cauline leaves 2-3, sessile. Inflorescence 2-5, collected at the top; involucre imbricate arrangement, edge black purple, hairy, outer involucre long ovate, innermost lanceolate; receptacle with bristles; flowers purple red, corolla 12 mm long, all tubular flowers. Achenes gyroscopic, 4 mm long; corolla brown, pinnate.
Born on alpine grass slopes. Distributed in Shaanxi, Henan, Gansu, Qinghai and other places.
