Perennial herbs, 7-20 cm high, leafless in winter. Rhizome short, erect; roots many, yellow slender. Vegetative leaf 1, narrowly ovate or narrowly lanceolate, rarely oblong, 3-12 cm long, 1-4 cm wide, apex obtuse or slightly acute, base short cuneate, entire, slightly fleshy; veins reticulate, secondary venules on both sides of midvein parallel to midvein.
