Leaves alternate, lanceolate or linear lanceolate, 5-20cm long, 0.5-22cm wide, gradually smaller upward into bracts; there are often bulbils in leaf axils. The inflorescence is racemose; the flower is orange red with purple black spots on the inner surface; the perianth piece is 7-10CM long and turns outward after opening; the anther is purple. Capsule oblong to obovate, 3-4cm long. The flowering period is from June to July, and the fruiting period is from August to October.
It is found in forest edge, roadside and hillside grassland. It is mainly produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hunan and Anhui.
