[plant morphology] Celastrus angustifolia

Perennial rattan shrub, 3-5M high. Old branch cylindrical, young branch quadrangular. Leaves opposite, membranous, ovate lanceolate, 4-10 cm long and 2.5-4 cm wide, apex acuminate, base nearly round or broadly cuneate, entire, rough above and pilose below; stipules truncate, with 4-6 bristles at the top. Flowers 10-20, dense compound umbels, axillary or terminal; peduncle 1.5-2.5 cm long; flowers small, white; calyx puberulent, lobes 4, linear lanceolate; corolla short, lobes lanceolate, reflexed, near throat with long hairs; stamens long and prominent; ovary 2-locular, style linear. Capsule subglobose, ca. 3 mm in diam., dehiscent, apex convex. It blooms in autumn.

It grows in valley, slope, forest and bush. It is distributed in the South and southwest of China.
