Perennial herbs, 30-50 cm high. The rhizome is massive. Stems purplish red, pubescent. The leaves are oblong obovate, 9-15 cm long and 8 cm wide, apex obtuse or short pointed, base cuneate, sometimes with two ears, leaf margin irregularly notched and serrated, with grayish white short hairs, green on top, bald or sparsely covered with grayish white short hairs, more on main veins, light green or purplish red below, prominent main veins, sparsely short hairs on top, black when reticulate veins are dry Stipe short or absent. The flower stems are sparsely short hairy. Capitate inflorescence terminal, several, diameter 1-1.5cm; involucre 2-whorled, margin lanceolate, outer whorl short, sparse, inner whorl imbricate, twice longer than outer whorl, sparsely covered with gray white short hairs; flowers all tubular, golden yellow; stamens 5, anthers united, concealed, inserted in 1 / 2 of corolla tube; pistil style slender, exposed, stigma 2-lobed. Achenes dark brown at maturity, with lines and white corolla. The flowering period is from spring to early winter.
I like to live on the wet and shady ground. It is distributed from Taiwan to South China. Southwest.
