Perennial herbs. The tuber is oblate and has many slender fibrous roots. In the first year, it has one leaf, heart-shaped, petiole about 16 cm long, fleshy and purple; in the second year, it has three compound leaves, broad ovate, 8-11 cm long and 2-1 cm wide, apex apical, base heart-shaped, entire, lower end occasionally with irregular lobes, glabrous on both sides and protruding under midrib. Fleshy inflorescence: the spathe is a broad and short tube, curly, with a long pointed apex and a purple and white banded pattern. The berries are oval in shape and red in color, forming dense cob like ears. It blooms in summer.

It grows in stone crevice, ditch edge and wet grass in field. It is distributed in Southwest China.
