[plant morphology] Actinidia arguta

Rattan, up to 30 meters long. The young branch sometimes has gray white pubescence, the old branch is smooth; the stem bark is light gray brown, the stem pith is brown, flaky. Leaf blade membranous to papery, ovate, elliptic ovate or oblong, 6-13 cm long, 5-9 cm wide, apex pointed or short caudate pointed. The base is round or heart-shaped, rarely subcuneate, with sharp serrations on the edge, light brown or gray white hairs on the axils of veins below, the rest glabrous, petioles and veins often black after stem. Axillary cyme with 3-6 flowers; white flowers, 1.2-2 cm in diameter; perianth 5, sepals with only marginal hairs; stamens numerous; styles filiform, numerous. Berries globose to oblong, smooth, apex with short caudate beak. The flowering period is from May to June. The fruit ripens in August.

In valleys, forests and shrubs. It is distributed in Northeast, North China, northwest and Yangtze River Basin.

[clinical application] treatment of gastric cancer

The syrup was prepared by ethanol extraction from the root of Pyrus grossedentata and Polygonum cuspidatum (containing 2 liang of Pyrus grossedentata and 1 liang of Polygonum cuspidatum per 60 ml), 20-30 ml each time, three times a day, before meals. 18 cases were treated, including 9 cases of gastric antrum cancer, 2 cases of gastric lesser curvature cancer, 4 cases of gastric fundus and cardia cancer and 3 cases of gastric body cancer. The shortest time of taking medicine was one week and the longest was three months. Results 3 cases were markedly effective (primary tumor or metastatic focus reduced by more than 1 / 2, symptoms and signs were significantly improved, X-ray confirmed that the focus was significantly reduced and improved), 7 cases were effective (primary tumor or metastatic focus reduced by less than 1 / 2, symptoms and signs were improved, X-ray showed different degrees of improvement), 8 cases were ineffective.
