Deciduous trees, up to 12 m high. Branchlets hairy when young. Leaves opposite, elliptic to oblong, 5-12 cm long, 2-6 cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate, slightly close to fine hairs above, densely pilose below. Corymbose cyme, with close pubescence, pedicel 1.5-3 cm long; sepals 4, very small, triangular; petals 4; stamens 4, shorter; ovary 2-locular, style rod-shaped, about as long as stigma. Drupe rounded, 5 mm in diam., black; seeds small, tan. The flowering period is June. The fruit period is from August to October.
It grows on the sunny hillside. It is distributed in Liaoning, Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Shandong, Jiangsu, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan and other places.
