[source] it is the tuberous root of Liriope platyphylla wanget Tang.
[plant morphology] perennial herb. The root is usually expanded into spindle or round rectangular small pieces with a length of 3.5 cm and a diameter of 7-8 mm. The leaves are tufted, leathery, 20-65cm long and 1-3.5cm wide, with 9-11 veins. Scapes usually longer than leaves, 35-100cm long; racemes 25-40cm long, with many flowers, 3-8 clustered in bract axils; bracts small, bristly; perianth oblong or oblong lanceolate, about 3.5mm long, purple; filaments about 1.5mm long; anthers 1.5-2mm long; ovary subglobose, style about 2mm long, stigma three lobed. The seeds are spherical, green at the beginning and black purple at maturity. The flowering period is from July to August and the fruiting period is from September to October.
It grows under mountain forest or in wet valley. It is mainly produced in East China and central China.
