Perennial herbs. Stem erect, 30-50 cm high. The root leaves have long stalks, 4-7 cm long stalks and wings; the stem leaves are alternate, heart-shaped, 7-10 cm long, 5-11 cm wide, apex short, base heart-shaped, edge wavy lobed and sharply serrated, dark green above, short hairy below, light green below, glabrous. Inflorescence terminal, corymbose arrangement; involucre bell shaped, bracts 4 rows, imbricate arrangement, the outer layer of the shortest, ovate lanceolate, apex acuminate, purple black; corolla all tubular, red purple, lobes and tube about the same length. Fruit 4-ribbed, smooth, pinnate corolla.
Born in the mountains and wet. Distributed in Guizhou, Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan and other places.
