[source] it is the root of Sophora alopecuroides. The plant morphology is detailed in "Kudouzi".
[collection] in summer and autumn, they were dug, sliced and dried.
[medicinal materials] the dry roots are long cylindrical, slightly curved, and generally cut into small segments of about 15-20 cm, with a diameter of about 0.8-2 cm. The surface is brownish yellow to brown, rough, with obvious longitudinal wrinkles and cracks, with transverse lenticels, sometimes with branch root marks. It is hard and not easy to break. The section is fibrous and light yellow. On the flat section, the xylem is arranged radially with cracks. Weak Qi, bitter taste.
