[plant morphology] parachute
Perennial herbs. Stem erect, 70-120 cm high, simple, glabrous, slightly brown. Root leaf 1, umbelliform when young, drooping; stem leaf alternate, shield shaped, palmately divided, straight to the center, lobes compound pinnate division, edge with irregular teeth, upper green, lower gray; lower leaf 20-30 cm in diameter, with long petiole, about 10-16 cm long, 7-9 lobes; upper leaf smaller, 12-24 cm in diameter, petiole 2-6 cm long, 4-5 lobes One. Inflorescences numerous, densely compound corymbose; bracts 1-layered, 5-lobed, glabrous, oblong, apex obtuse, margin membranous. Flowers bisexual, 8-11, corolla tubular, ca. 1 cm long, apex 5-lobed. Stamens 5, attached to corolla tube; ovary inferior, 1-locular; style slender, stigma 2-lobed. Achenes oblong, ca. 5 mm long; corolla grayish white or reddish. The flowering period is from July to August. The fruit period is from September to October.
It grows on hillside wasteland. It is distributed in Northeast, North and East China.

[medicinal material] the dry root is nearly cylindrical, slender, mostly irregular curved, with light brown surface, fine longitudinal wrinkles, yellowish white broken face and brownish yellow oil spots in the middle. It is better to be dry and free of impurities.
