Evergreen trees. The leaves are alternate, slightly leathery, elliptic or obovate, 24-27 cm long and 8-12 cm wide, with pink white back and entire margin. The flowers are unisexual and heterogeneous, with dense bundles and several early fallen bracts; perianth is 6-lobed; stamens are 12, anthers are 4-locular, all introverted. Fruit on cup-shaped, enlarged perianth tube.
Born in the mountains and forests. It is distributed in the southwest of China.
