[plant morphology] Desmodium rotundifolia
Small shrub, about 1 m high. The stem is angular, sparsely covered with pubescence. The leaves are alternate, with 3 leaflets. The leaves on both sides are smaller. The apex is round rhombic, 4-7 cm long and 3.5-6 cm wide. The apex is acute or obtuse, the base is broad cuneate, the whole margin is covered with scattered pubescence on both sides. The stipules are linear lanceolate. Inflorescence terminal panicle, 30 cm long, axillary racemose; flowers purplish red; calyx small, campanulate, lobed; pistil linear, glabrous. Pods usually with 2 nodes, dorsally curved, covered with hooked trichomes, nodes dehiscent to ventral sutures. The flowering period is from July to September.
It grows under mountain forest or in grass slope. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Shandong, Anhui, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Taiwan, Guizhou, Gansu, Shaanxi, Yunnan, etc.
