Plant morphology: the pileus is corky, reniform, reddish brown, red purple or dark purple, with lacquer like luster, ring-shaped ridges and radial wrinkles. The size and shape of the pileus vary greatly. The pileus of large individuals is 20 × 10cm, about 2cm thick, and that of general individuals is 4 × 3cm, 0.5-1cm thick. There are numerous small holes under the pileus. The nozzles are white or light brown, and there are 4-5 nozzles per millimeter The spores are produced at the top of basidiophore. Stipe lateral, rarely partial, longer than the diameter of the cap, purple brown to black, lacquer like luster, hard. The spores are ovoid, 8-11 × 7cm in diameter, with two layers of walls. The inner wall is brown, with small warts on the surface, and the outer wall is transparent and colorless.
In summer and autumn, it is mainly planted on the side of hardwood stump, or on the wood, standing wood, fallen wood, and sometimes on coniferous trees. Produced in Anhui, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi.
It can be harvested all year round, dried in the shade or in the sun.

It is warm in nature and mild in taste.
