The root and fruit of Berberidaceae are the origin of Berberidaceae.
[plant morphology] Berberis amurensis
Deciduous shrub, 1.5-2 m high, much branched. The root is thick and long, yellow. Leaves clustered on branchlets; leaf blade obovate, entire or dentate; branchlets and branchlets often have one long and two short trigeminal spines. Raceme; flowers small, yellow. Berries globose, purple black when ripe.
It grows in the valley of low mountain and forest area and in the bush of hillside. It is distributed in Xinjiang.
[collection] harvest in spring and autumn.
[flavor] bitter, cold and nontoxic.
Functions and indications: clearing away heat and dampness, purging fire and detoxifying. Treat dysentery, enteritis, pharyngitis, stomatitis, eczema, furuncle.
[usage and dosage] oral: decoction, 3-5 yuan. External use: gargle with boiling water or apply at the end of research.
