[plant morphology] Polygonatum convolutum, also known as Polygonatum verticillatum.
Perennial herbs, 80-150 cm high. Rhizome hypertrophy, into irregular nodules, shaped like ginger, stem marks obvious, disc-shaped. Stem cylindrical, ribbed, tip curved. Leaves 3-8 whorls, linear lanceolate, 7.5-12 cm long, apex curly, with powder below. Flowers small, white, green or purplish, 1-4 flowers per total pedicel, whorled; bracts lanceolate, white, membranous; perianth tubular, apex 6-lobed, with papillary pubescence at the crack; stamen; perianth tube above middle, filaments ciliate; style length equal to ovary. Berries globose, black when ripe.
Born on the edge of mountains and forests. It is distributed in Ningxia, Tibet, Xinjiang, Shaanxi, Gansu, Hubei, Sichuan and Northeast China. It is also cultivated in Shandong and other places.
The rhizome of this product is also used as Polygonatum.
