Achnatherum splendens

Perennial herbs, 0.5-2.5 m high. The root is thick and tough, covered with sand, 3 mm in diameter. Stem erect, stout, hard, tufted, base persistent yellowish brown withered leaf sheath. The leaves are linear, 30-60 cm long, longitudinally folded, tough, with raised veins on the top, slightly rough, with many concave grooves on the bottom, smooth and glabrous; the leaf sheath is hairless, tough, and the edge is membranous; the tongue is hard, acuminate, 5-7 mm long (the upper part of the stem reaches 1 cm). Panicle, 40-60 cm long, in the shape of a tower, gathered on one side of the culm.
