[plant morphology] okra setosa, also known as Tongma, okra, wild cotton, hibiscus, Xinma, leopard eye flower.
Perennial herb, 1-2 m high, densely covered with yellow long setae. The leaves are simple, alternate, papery, variegated, ovate to suborbicular, 15-30 cm in diameter, palmately lobed, with 5-9 lobes of different sizes, margin dentate, both sides hairy; petiole long. Flowers solitary in leaf axils, or several terminal, arranged in racemes; bracts 4-5, ovate lanceolate; calyx 5-lobed, lobes spoon shaped, caducous; corolla yellowish, central purple, bell shaped, diameter 8-10 cm; stamen tube 15 mm long. Capsule oblong, 5-7 cm long, apex, coarsely hairy, containing many seeds. The flowering period is from September to October.
It grows in the hillside Bush and by the stream. It is distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, Guangdong and Hubei.
The leaves of this plant are also used for medicine.
