[plant morphology] Castanopsis spinosa
Subshrub, about 1 m high, slightly hairy. The lower part of stem or branch is rhomboid, broadly ovate or broadly ovate, 3-lobed, the upper part is ovate, undivided, 3-8 cm long and 1.5-5.5 cm wide, the base is four, the margin is serrate, the upper part is sparsely covered with single or forked hairs, the lower part is slightly dense with stellate hairs; the petiole is 0.5-5 cm long. Cymes several axillary; flowers yellow; sepals oblong, ca. 5 mm long, apex angular; petals shorter than sepal tip; stamens 8-15; ovary spiny. Fruit subglobose, ca. 3 mm in diam., with short hairs and spines, apex recurved.
In the bush near the forest. It is distributed in Yunnan, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and Taiwan.
Bitter, cold.
[function indications] diuretic fossils. Treatment of stone drenching, cold wind heat syndrome.
[selection] ① treatment of calculus (urinary calculi): one to two pairs of peach blossom in huanghuadi. After taking one to four doses, add plantain and touguxiao.
