[plant morphology] Ligustrum lucidum (Ben Jing), also known as Zhenmu (Shan Hai Jing), Ligustrum lucidum (Dian Shu), holly, wax tree (Gang Mu), Xiaoye lenggao (Yi Lin Bian Yao), Jiangjun tree (Lin'an County Tu Jing), shuiwax tree (a textual research on the name and reality of plants), shuiruixiang, frozen green tree, big wax leaf, Shuizhen, white wax tree.

Evergreen shrubs or small trees, up to 10 meters. Bark gray to light grayish brown, branches smooth, with lenticels. The leaf blade is leathery, ovate to ovate lanceolate, 5-14 cm long, 3.5-6 cm wide, apex acuminate to acute, base broadly cuneate, entire, dark green above, glossy, light green below, densely covered with small hyaline gland dots, main veins obvious.
