Shell 2 pieces, thick, oblique oval, extremely expanded, close to spherical. The shell is about 8 cm long and 6 cm wide. The top of the shell is slightly close, the back is slightly obtuse on both sides; the ventral margin is round, the front end is short, and the rear end is extended. The radial ribs are wide, smooth and neat, about 42-48, without obvious nodules. The shell surface is white, covered with brown outer skin and fine hairs; the inner surface of the shell is white, and slightly gray near the top. The margin is thick, with protuberant teeth corresponding to the radial costal groove. The hinged part is straight, and there are about 70 hinged teeth, which are gradually fine from both ends to the center. Both coat mark and adductor mark were obvious. The anterior adductor mark was smaller and nearly round, while the posterior adductor mark was larger and nearly square. The edge of the coat is thick, with folds, and the outside has the same pattern as the edge teeth.
They live in shallow sea sediment. It is distributed along the coast of China.
② Tegillarca granosa
The shell is small and oval. It is about 4.5 cm long and 4 cm wide. There are 18-20 radiating ribs, which are composed of intermittent granular protrusions. There are about 40 hinged teeth.
They live in shallow water and soft mud. They are distributed in coastal areas; they are also cultivated in Shandong, Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong.
③ Scapharca subcrenata
The shell is short, wide and long oval. The two shells are usually unequal, the right shell is smaller, and the two dorsal ends are slightly angular. There are 30-34 radiating ribs on the surface of the shell. There are small nodules on the ribs. It is more obvious on the left shell. There are hairy shell skin on the outside. There are about 50 hinged teeth.
They live in shallow sea sediment. They are distributed in coastal areas.

[chemical composition] the content of water, crude protein, crude fat, ash and glycogen in the meat of Scapharca subcrenata was 82.04%, 15.79%, 0.45%, 1.72% and 1.067%, respectively. Each 100g contains 400 IU of vitamin A, b1-200ug, b2-200ug, 2.5mg of nicotinic acid and 10mg of c-10mg.
