Plant morphology huashanfan
Deciduous shrub, 1-3 m high. Twigs densely pilose. They are simple, alternate, elliptic, obovate elliptic, 3.5-7 cm long and 2-4 cm wide, apex short, base obtuse or broadly cuneate, leaf margin with small punctate teeth, upper surface sparsely hairy, lower surface densely covered with white trichomes; petiole 3-5 mm long, pilose, without stipules. Panicle, axillary and terminal, 4-6 cm long, pedicel, petiole. The flowers are white, base connate, lobes 5, ovate, about 3 mm long; the stamens are numerous, gathered into 5 bundles, each bundle has more than 10 stamens, inserted at the base of corolla, filaments white, anthers light yellow, 2-locular, dorsal; pistil 1, style white, as long as stamens, stigma unbroken, Ovary inferior, 2-locular. Drupe blue black, rounded, ca. 6 mm long; ca. 3. 5 mm in diam. Seeds round, numerous. The flowering period is from June to July. The fruit period is from October to November.
It grows in hills, barren slopes, wilderness and shrubs. It is distributed in Jiangsu, Anhui, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, etc.
The root and fruit of this plant are also used for thistle.
