[plant morphology] dihuanglian
Subshrub, 10-15 cm high. Stems usually do not branch. Compound leaves alternate, 3 leaflets, rough on the top, pubescent below; apical leaflets larger, ovoid to elliptic ovate, 3-6 cm long, 2.5-3.5 cm wide, apex obtuse, margin with sparse large obtuse teeth, base broad ovate; lateral leaflets suborbicular, 2-2.5 cm long, 1-2 cm wide. Cyme axillary, generally 3-flowered; total pedicel 6-7 mm long; flower base with linear bracts 3; calyx 5-lobed, lobes lanceolate, green, covered with short hairs; corolla white, lower part united into tube, lobes obovate, apex obtuse; stamen 10, middle part united with lower part into tube, apex 10 lobes, anthers 10, born on top of tube; ovary 5-locular, each locule has 2 ovules. Capsule 2-5-loculed, seed 1-5-lobed. The flowering period is July.
