The leaf blade is very thin, slender lanceolate, 6-10 cm long, 10-15 mm wide, apex acuminate, base narrow, contracted into petiole 1.5-3 mm long, green on the top, glabrous on the bottom, whitish on the bottom, with micro hairs, especially at the base, with small saw teeth on the edge or smooth on one side. The spikelets are fan-shaped, usually 2-4 at the top of the last branchlet, supported by 4-6 bracts at the base. There are membranous scales covered with microvilli in the spikelets. The spikelets contain 3-4 flowers, slender, 14-20 mm long, and their terminal flowers often degenerate; glumes 1-2 (absent in the terminal spikelets); lemmas (the first flower) are covered with microvilli, with sharp apex; palea is covered with microvilli, with 2 teeth at the apex; 3 scales, ovate, often of different sizes; anthers are gray white, hanging to the outside of flowers after maturity; ovary is conical, smooth, glossy, petiolate; style 1, with 3 stigmas at the top.
