Shrub, 2-3m high. Branchlets slender, grayish brown. The impeller is green, leathery, oblong to oblong lanceolate, 6-10 cm in length and 1.5-2.7 cm in width, acuminate at both ends, slightly glossy green on the top, slightly pale white on the bottom, puberulent, gradually falling off later, pinnate, often concave on the midrib, raised under the midrib and lateral vein; petiole 5-8 mm long. Flowers clustered on branches; bracts abscission at flowering; staminate pedicels densely brown villous; perianth segments 6, ovate, several equal, 3 mm long, perianth tube shorter than perianth segments; fertile stamens 9, 3-whorled, anthers elliptic, 4-locular, all intropetal, filaments about 4 mm long, staminodes small. Fruit ovate, red, on cup-shaped perianth.
Born in the jungle. Distributed in Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan, Hubei, Shaanxi, Henan and other places.
