Climbing shrubs. Leaves opposite; leathery; oblong or elliptic, 9-14 cm long, 3-5.5 cm wide, base broadly cuneate or suborbicular, apex obtuse or suborbicular, apiculate, entire, glabrous above, glabrous below when young, glabrous when old; stipitate. Flowers terminal or axillary, in loose cymes; corolla yellow, 5-lobed, lobes narrowly lanceolate, ca. 8 mm long; corona with scales 5, clavate. Follicles terete, tapering from middle to top, ca. 10 cm long, hard, 1-1.5 cm in diameter. Seeds black, oblong, ca. 1 cm long, compressed, apically hairy. The flowering period is May.
