[plant morphology] dachaocai
Annual herb, 25-50 cm high, cultivated up to 90 cm, covered with sparse yellow pubescence. Stipules semisagittate, with 1-3 lanceolate teeth on one side and all green on the other, 8-16 leaflets, rectangular or oblanceolate, apically truncate or concave, apically acuminate, base cuneate, sparsely yellow pubescent on both sides, 8-18 mm long and 4-8 mm wide. Raceme axillary, 1-2 flowers, butterfly shaped, short pedicel, dark purple or rose red; calyx tubular, yellow pubescent, calyx teeth linear; flag obovate, wing and keel claws; stamen 10, two body; pistil 1, ovary with short stalk, yellow puberulent, style short, stigma capitate, style top outside a tuft of beard. Pods slightly flat, brown at maturity, split into 2 curly petals. The flowering period is from March to April.
On hillside, roadside and grassland. It is distributed in most areas of China.
