[plant morphology] horse saddle
Shrubby vines with milk. Stems purplish brown, rusty pilose. Leaves opposite, oblong to obovate, 8-14 cm long and 5-7 cm wide. Base subcordate auriculate, both surfaces rust colored pilose, thick papery, abaxial veins protruding; petiole 7 mm long. Cymes axillary, bifurcate, petiole ca. 4 mm, calyx 5-lobed, lobes ovate triangular, ca. 1 mm, hairy; corolla 5-lobed, lobes ovate, ca. 4 mm, outer green, inner purple; corona linear, ca. 3 mm, connate with filament base; stamens 5; ovary 2-locular, style short, stigma discoid, purple. Follicles dichotomous, widely spreading, dark brown, with yellowish brown pubescence; seeds numerous, oblong, with white hairs. The flowering period is from August to October. The fruit period is from October to December.
Most of them grow in the valley, sparse forest or bush. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other places.
