Perennial fleshy erect herb, 0.5-1 m high, green in whole plant, red in old branches, glabrous. The leaves are opposite, 8-18 cm long, smaller near the top, pinnate, lobes lanceolate, entire or with irregular obtuse teeth to lobes, terminal leaves are lanceolate. Cymes are terminal, inflorescence 10-30 cm long; flowers are erect, most; calyx is green, 4-lobed, lobes linear lanceolate, membranous; corolla is yellow or light orange red, 1.5-2 cm long, diameter about 2 cm, tall Stamens 8, 2-whorled, inserted at the throat of corolla tube, filaments short; lower scales 4, linear.
