Herbs perennial, up to 1 m tall, glabrous. Stem erect, 4-angled. Flowers in terminal cymes; sepals 5, unequal; petals 5, golden yellow, narrowly obovate, slightly oblique and rotated; stamens numerous. The ovary is superior with 5 styles.
