Herbs perennial, ca. 25 cm tall. The roots are tufted, and a few of them are fleshy and expanded into spindles with fibrous roots. The stem is solitary or two stems are concurrent, and the whole body has gray Tricholoma. Leaves simple, alternate, narrowly ovate, pinnately cleft, ca. 15 mm long, ca. 6 mm wide, apex narrow, base truncate. Both surfaces densely short hairy; lobes ca. 10 pairs, rectangular. Margin undulate; stipe slender, pubescent. Arachis hypogaea L. is a raceme arranged in the axils of the top leaves of the stem, with bracts at the base; pedicel slender, densely short hairy; calyx obliquely tubular, apex 5-lobed, or sometimes reduced to 3-lobed; corolla 2-lipped, pink, upper lip galeate, lower lip 3-lobed. Capsule obliquely lanceolate ovate. Seeds ovate and pointed, brown.
Born on hillside, grass, forest edge. Distributed in Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Hunan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong and other places.
② Codonopsis lanceolata
Perennial herbs. The roots are spindle shaped. The stem is hollow, the upper part is branched, cylindric, the proximal node is slightly square, with furrows. There are rows of hairs in the furrows. The branches are weak and curved, with few or more 3-4 whorls. The leaves are oblong lanceolate, 2-4cm long, 1-2cm wide, pinnate to fully lobed. The lobes are linear, with sharp spines and double serrated calluses. The cymes grow in the upper part of the main stem branches, forming long spike like and discontinuous inflorescences; the bracts and leaves are isomorphic and small; the Corolla is purplish red, 2-lipped, the apex of the upper lip suddenly narrows into a beak, and the lower lip is large and 3-lobed.
Born on hillside and grass. It is distributed in Yunnan.
